Mikal Fostervold

 

West Union – Mikal Harald Fostervold, 65, passed away on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, at The Overlook in Toccoa, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. 


Born August 29th, 1958, in Bangor, Maine, Mikal was the son of Melvin Fostervold (Beth Reese) and the late Claire Vegard Fostervold. Mikal was retired from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department where he served as Lieutenant. Mikal was dedicated to his professional service in law enforcement, and was very instrumental in the operations and opening the new Oconee County Detention Center. He was known for his talent, and giving heart to helping anyone in need, building many projects and loved fishing, and was an Eagle Scout.


Mikal is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Tammy Fostevold; children, Christopher Allan Fostervold and wife Jennifer of Sumter, Rhonda Floyd Smith and husband Jody of Westminster, Amanda Floyd Martin and husband Daniel of Seneca, Melissa Fostervold Storch and husband David of Toccoa, Georgia; brother, Mark Fostervold and wife Tina of North Carolina; sister, Tricia Golden and husband Matthew of Michigan; ten grandchildren, CJ, Braden, Jaelynn, Joah, Charlesly, Randa, Braven, Genevieve, Garrett, Caroline; and one great grandchild, Cash.

 

Mikal is preceded in death by his mother, and his daughter, Kari Lynn Fostervold.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at Golden Corner Church.  No formal visitation will be held.
