“Memory Cafe” benefits those with dementia

At the new “Memory Café” in Walhalla the menu offers a lot for the soul.  Church-based Memory Café is a free program for those with any form of dementia.  The program has the dual benefit of helping those who care for dementia individuals.  Heading up this program at the St. Luke United Methodist Church is Bonnie Holmes.  She started a Memory Café at Seneca’s St. Mark United Methodist Church, and now has expanded to the Walhalla church.  Caring for others comes naturally to Bonnie Holmes.  A retired educator, Holmes cared for three family members.  Now she helps care for others.  More on the Memory Café at St. Luke can be heard on this Sunday’s “Community Soundoff.”
