Melvin Lee Bliss

Seneca– Melvin “Mel” Lee Bliss, 70, husband of Tonja Gray Bliss, passed away on Sunday, January 30^th, 2022 at Prisma Health – Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

Mel was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and was the son of the late Berwyn Bliss and Jacqueline Ferrell Bliss and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  Mel was a retired fire instructor who enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing and was known for being a people person.

 

Mel is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Tonja Bliss; sons, Dale Bliss (Jennifer) and Michael Bliss of Warren, PA; daughter, Vinessa Patterson (K.P.) of Louisburg, NC; and sister, Carol Stevens (Scott); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

In addition to his parents, Mel is preceded in death by sisters, Annette Mullins and Gloria Telkamp.

 

Per Melvin’s wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mel’s memory may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 407 Hall Road, Westminster, SC 29693.   Condolences may be expressed online by visiting.
