Melvin Lantz Glick

 

Seneca- Melvin Lantz Glick, died of natural causes after a brief illness on December 22, 2021 at the age of 79 years.

 

Melvin was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania the eldest son of Stephen and Lydia Glick. From these humble beginnings as the son of Amish dairy farmers Melvin went on to spend 10 years of his life as a missionary in Belize and helped to pastor Beachy Amish Churches in New York, Virginia and South Carolina. He also served on various mission boards. In 1964 he married Mary June Glick and together for the next 57 years they raised a family that today includes four children, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

 

The four surviving children include Myron (Joyce) Glick, Micheal (Joyce) Glick, Maurice (Lupita) Glick and Melanie Farnham. Melvin has 3 surviving siblings including Fannie (Elmer) Stoltzfus, Elmer (Dorothy) Glick and Verna (Clair) Bieler. Preceding him in death include his afore mentioned parents, a son (Mark Anthony), a granddaughter (Ashley Marie) and two siblings Anna Mary (Alvin) Blank and Sam. Though he only attended the 8th grade. Melvin was a ferocious reader and a self- taught man. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved working outdoors, building things and helping others.

 

The funeral service will be held, Monday, December 27th, 2021 at 11:00am at Cold Springs Mennonite Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The visitation will be held Sunday, December 26th, 2021 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, at Cold Springs Mennonite Church, 226 Cold Spring Church Road, Abbeville, South Carolina, 2620.

 

The family of Melvin Glick encourage that donations be made to the mission organization of your choice in honor of Melvin’s lifelong work to demonstrate the love of Jesus to people all over the world.
