Mayor to run for a new term

Seneca’s long serving mayor has declared he has at least another four years in him to serve at the head of the city’s elected government.  Dan Alexander is making it known he’ll offer for a new four-year term when qualifying opens this month for the city’s November election.  Speaking to 94.1 The Lake, Alexander said he’s also confident that the four members of city council whose current terms are coming to an end will likewise offer for re-election.  They are Ronnie O’Kelley, Stuart Pohl, Al Gaines, and Dana Moore.  Seneca was hit by a double whammy over the last 16 months—the effects of the world pandemic on city government along with the destructive EF-3 tornado that followed on the heels of the virus outbreak.  However, as O’Kelley explains to 101.7/WGOG NEWS, there’s a feeling among the current mayor and council that Seneca is a city moving forward, in part, by its moves to tear down vacant and unsightly old buildings, and he and the others in office want to remain a part of what lies ahead.
