MATSUE PHILLIPS

Long Creek -Matsue Miura Phillips, 95, wife of the late Clark Edward Phillips, passed away on September 11th, 2022 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC with her family by her side.

 

Born in Nagasaki, Japan, Matsue was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Genechi Miura.  Matsue was a nurse while she was in Okinawa, Japan where she met her husband.  They married and then she was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother. 

 

Matsue enjoyed her life in the mountains; it was her dream.  She enjoyed and loved her family, church and friends.  She was a great cook, was gifted to many talents such as sewing, painting, making origami, etc.

 

Matsue is survived by her son, C.G. Phillips (Susan) of Long Creek; grandchildren, Christy Bryson (Chris) of Walhalla, SC, Brian Phillips (Anna Bess) of Paris, Texas; great grandchildren, Simon Bryson, Regan Phillips, Hadley Phillips, Hensley Phillips; brothers, Susao Miura, Toshiyaki Miura, Jiungi Miura of Japan; and sisters, Hiroko Ozaki and Chieko Ito of Japan.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Matsue is preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Harper Grace Phillips.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 14th, 2022, at Long Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow at Long Creek Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 at Sandifer Funeral Home. Mrs. Phillip’s will lie in state 10:00 am till 11:00 am, Wednesday, September

14th, 2022 at Long Creek Baptist Church prior to the service.
