Maria M. Ortega De Lopez

Walhalla, SC — Macaria Lopez, 90, of 9 Keowee St., Walhalla passed away peacefully on Sunday June 26, 2022, at Oconee Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving  family.

 

A native of Madero Tlaxcala, Mexico, Macaria was the daughter of the late Atilano and Josefa Rodriguez Ortega. She was a faithful and proud member of The Light of the World Church (La Luz Del Mundo) and was one of the first pioneers of the faith to settle in Walhalla in 1978.

 

Macaria is survived by her sons: Samuel Lopez (Micaela) of West Union, Soloman Lopez (Olivia) of Walhalla, and Joseph Lopez (Graciela) of Walhalla; daughters: Evangelina (Alfonso) of Walhalla, Lucia Lopez (Alfredo) of Walhalla, Martha Lopez of Walhalla, and Julia Childress (Michael) of Pickens; brother Isidro Ortega (Febe) of West Union and sister Lola (Miguel) of Atlixco, Puebla.

 

Macaria is preceded in death by her husband Zorobabel Lopez.

 

Macaria was a loving mother and grandmother and devoted her life to caring for her large family. She was known for her dedication and commitment to serving the Lord and enjoyed cooking homemade meals for her family and church community. She was a mother figure to many and extended her love and care to everyone, including strangers. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her 37 grandchildren and over 30 great-grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Davenport Funeral Home.

 

A Funeral Service will be conducted from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Davenport Funeral Home.

 

The burial will take place at 10am, Saturday July 2, 2022 at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
