Manufacturing plants loses power–truck wreck update
The truck wreck around the noon hour took down power poles supplying electricity to the complex of manufacturing plants at and near the 11-123 interchange in Oconee County–about halfway between Seneca and Westminster. Highway traffic is being diverted. No one is reported injured, but there’s a lots of smoke, says a spokeswoman for the Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op. Blue Ridge’s Denise McCormick says some of those plants that had lost service are being “back-fed” with a power supply. It’s believed extended apparatus of a trash truck leaving the grounds of the nearby Co-Op offices struck a power pole and line that eventually collapsed a tot of 15 poles, 14 on SC 11 and one on 123. Besides power outages, internet service there has been interrupted.
