Man charged with driving stolen motorcycle into lake

Deputies tried to capture a motorcycle operator who fled last August in the Townville area.  In the middle of that month, they could not apprehend him. He drove a chopper that matched the body style of a motorcycle reported stolen that same week in that area.  But, according to an Oconee Sheriff’s Office announcement today, deputies recovered evidence which they used to identify their suspect as Shawn Lee Foote II of Ames Street, Utica.  Among the charges facing the 23-year old Foote are possessing a stolen Suzuki Bandit motorcycle and damaging the bike by intentionally driving it into Lake Hartwell.  By this afternoon, Foote remained jail, with a combined $50 thousand surety bond.
