“Make a splash this summer”

The Walhalla Swimming Pool, under the operation of the Foothills YMCA, is primed for a Memorial Day week opening, and the “Y’s” Darryl Broome is promising a full summer of swimming, recreation, exercise, and swim lessons. A former banker and former congressional aide, Broome has made a career switch to YMCA administration. And last night he shared his excitement for a successful summer season at a meeting of Walhalla’s Partners for Progress. Partners’ members have been avid supporters of a return of public swimming. As Partners’ Dan Pollock put it last night, the idea had some of its origins within his organization. Daily admittance will be three dollars at the West Main Street pool and season passes will also be sold. A young man with a summer camp background, Eric Moxley, will manage the swimming pool, but Broome says there’s still the need to find young people interested in serving as lifeguards.
