Major power outage — Westminster

As of this writing (9:30 am,) the entire Westminster electric power service area is without.  We are being told that Westminster has been told that it could be as late as this afternoon before service is restored.  The outage affects all customers, both within the corporate limits and in the rural part of the city’s service area.  According to Mayor Ramey, once City Administrator Carter can power up his laptop an announcement about what happened will be issued.  Westminster receives it supply from the PMPA, which derives electricity from a Duke reactor.  A Duke official tells us:  “We are aware of the outage in Westminster. Duke Energy provides transmission service to Westminster, but this issue is with the town’s equipment. We are providing our expertise to town officials as they work to resolve the issue.”
