Major changes proposed to Clemson

Change may be in store in the city of Clemson where some believe there’s already too much development…and too much large development.  The city council this month will invite public comment on a proposed text amendment which is explained this way:  “The proposed text amendment will ban new mixed-use buildings, multi-family buildings, and townhomes by amending Chapter 19 (Zoning) of City Code to remove them as a permitted use anywhere in the City.  The action stems from recommendations of the ‘Strategic Plan’ delivered to the City in November of 2020; and follows up on Resolution 2020-0013 passed by City Council on November 23, 2020.”  The public hearing will be 6 pm Thursday, March 25 in city hall council chambers.  Because of COVID-19 city hall is closed to the public, but everyone is invited to view the hearing on the City of Clemson YouTube channel.  Comments may be submitted by telephone during the hearing by dialing 864/653-9886.
