Major changes in store for large intersection

The board of directors of the Pioneer Rural Water District got a look at state DOT drawings that portend major changes for the large intersection in what’s considered Fair Play village.  For many motorists, negotiating where SC 59, 182, and 243 converge can be a dicey scenario.  The displayed drawings show the state proposes a pair of T-intersections that’ll apparently require the abandonment of small sections of both 59 and 182 in the heart of Fair Play.  However, unlike a widening project planned for a lengthy section of SC 24, the state is willing to compensate Pioneer Water for the necessary relocation of water lines in the intersection, according to Terry Pruitt, general manager of the water district.
