Mae Norris

Westminster – Virgie “Granny Mae” Norris, 79, of 589 Winfred Lane Rd, wife of the late William “Bill” Lacy Norris, passed away July 20^th, 2020 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

 

Born in Oconee, SC, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alma Gilstrap Gilliam. Mae was a retired seamstress and formerly worked at Dunlop. Granny Mae was an avid gardener who loved her flowers, loved baking for her family and quilting and was of the Baptist faith.

 

Mae is survived by her sons; Randy Norris (Sandra) of Westminster, Joe Norris (Gail) of Tamassee, Mack Norris (Cathy) of Westminster, daughter; Teresa Cawthon (Winfred) of Westminster, brother; Stevie Gilliam, of Seneca; sisters, Judy Bryson of Fair Play, Carol Morris of Seneca, and Louise Norris of Westminster; eleven grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Gilliam, Louie Gilliam, Junior Gilliam, Darby Gilliam, Connie Gilliam and L.B. Gilliam, Reed Gilliam, and a sister, Rachel Barker.

 

Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Thursday, July 23^th, 2020 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, July 22^nd, 2020, at Sandifer Funeral Home.
