Lt. Gov. Evette introduces herself to Seneca crowd

Henry McMaster and Pamela Evette are the first South Carolina governor and lieutenant governor to run as a ticket and be elected to office. Today Evette accounted for her first year in office in a talk to the Seneca Rotary Club. Ohio native and Travelers Rest businesswoman Evette says that, in year one, she has done “a lot of listening” to South Carolinians as to what they want from their government. As she described it, a team effort is underway to better the state. She urged the Rotarians to take the time next week to tune to Governor McMaster’s address on the State of the State. Evette says the governor will ask the legislature to approve another pay raise for teachers amounting to $3 thousand dollars a year and, she says, McMaster will also call for a tax cut. There has been a surplus of state money which Evette traces to new businesses across South Carolina.
