Looks like “a war zone”

Early morning motorists who braved 123 between Seneca and Clemson sat backed up for, as one driver told us, two and a half hours.  The emergency situation that blocked 123 eastbound traffic was created by fallen electric power lines a pole in front of Lake Keowee Dodge across 4-lane 123 onto the entrance of the Millbrook subdivision.  That was cleared up thanks to the work of Blue Ridge Electric crews and South Carolina DOT.  The line of storms stretched between the area of the Seneca-Clemson corridor thru Wells Highway, the Utica, Community, into the southwest parts of Seneca, including Dalton Road, the Horseshoe subdivision.  We have an unconfirmed report of major damage to the Borg Warner plant building.  All Oconee County offices are closed, including the manned convenience center on Strawberry Farm Road, the C&D landfill.  Parts of 123 By-Pass have power service, but the traffic lights were out at the East End intersection and Ingle’s is closed because of the loss of electric power.  Secondary 1, the Old Clemson-Seneca Highway, because of fallen trees, is described as taking on the appearance of a “war zone.”
