Long delayed jail repairs OK’d

The damage to the Oconee detention center resulting from a late 2017 fire should soon be repaired. The County Council on Tuesday unanimously approved repairs totaling $255,295.70 that will be three companies: Davis Electrical & Plumbing, Inc., Eagle Interiors, Inc., and MCG Mechanical Services, of Anderson, this latter firm to handle the HVAC issues. According to county officials, the long delay in getting the work started is due to necessary lengthy negotiations regarding insurance claims.
