Long 123 stretch soon for new cover

If nature continues to cooperate, a long stretch of U-S 123 in Oconee County will soon have a smoother surface for cars and trucks, small and large, to ride. Drier weather, combined with less traffic on the roads, is helping the general contractor in its project to re-surface 123, the Sandifer Boulevard from the Richland Road thru Westminster downtown. Marty McKee of King Asphalt of Liberty, the contractor, says continuing now is the process of milling—the grinding down of the pavement to prepare for new asphalt—but soon the final cover will be applied. McKee says his company is grateful to motorists who are exercising caution in the vicinity of work crews which enhances the chances this project will be completed as safely and efficiently as possible.
