Local blood supply remains low

The local blood supply provided by the Blood Connection remains low, especially now that winter weather has created consecutive days of low donor turnout.  A stable supply is needed to serve hospital patients; for example, the patients at the Oconee Memorial Hospital.  Blood donations are impacted by the weather emergencies in Texas and Louisiana.  There, some blood centers have had to close, creating the critical need for donations.  As this region’s blood center, the Blood Connection prioritizes local hospitals, but donors are needed everywhere to help neighbors in other regions get through a hard time.  Donors are urged to make appointments as soon as possible.
