Livestock farmers qualify for government payment

The latest data from the U-S Drought Monitor qualifies Oconee livestock producers for a USDA payment for them to buy feed to re-plenish their dwindling stocks. Extension agent Morris Warner urges Oconee livestock farmers to call the Farm Service Agency office in Walhalla for an appointment and learn what documents they need to bring to make application. Because of infrequent and light rainfalls, it’s dry over most of Oconee County and the region, but especially dry in the southern part of the county, the heart of county agriculture.
