Libraries stay active, though the doors are closed

You can’t check out a library book the normal way. You can’t even return a book way overdue. But, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oconee Library system is staying active, and the employees are working, according to Blair Hinson, the director. “In addition to cleaning and straightening up our libraries and things with the anticipation when the libraries can re-open again, we have had Wi-Fi available at almost all of our branches out in the parking lot, in addition to providing books for students in the Seneca area….” With lots of time on hand at home, Hinson suggests that people who don’t belong to the library can take advantage of the time by going online and applying for a library card. With a card, a patron can access many electronic materials available.
