Lawrence Durham
Westminster– Lawrence Deward “Pee Wee” Durham, 82, husband of Cora Lee Dean Durham, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his residence.
Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, Lawrence was the son of the late William Murphy Durham and Lilian Marie Kelly Durham. Lawrence was retired from the construction industry, where he worked at MB Kahn of Columbia. Lawrence was a deacon, song leader, a Scout Master of Troop 113 for over 25 years, a member of the Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge #185 Order of the Arrow, and a member of Grace Baptist. He had a great love for gardening, playing his guitar, and singing gospel music at church. Lawrence was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife, Cora Lee Dean Durham of 62 years; a son, William Deward Durham (Wanda) of Greenville; a daughter, Wanda Darlene Lecroy (Tim) of Walhalla; four grandchildren, Adam Durham (Ashley), Lindsey Sweppenhiser (Todd), Timothy Justin “T.J” Lecroy (Ashley), Jennifer Nicole Lecroy; and eleven great-grandchildren, Bryson Durham, Kolby Lee, Asa Lee, Colton Sweppenhiser, Axl Sweppenhiser, Chloe Lecroy, Gracie Lecroy, Paislee Lecroy, Aubree Lecroy, Easton Rae Durham and Thatcher Gray Durham.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his daughter, Wilma Dawn Durham Blackwell; granddaughter, Lori Durham; brothers, Herman, Ervin, Vernon, Felton, Frank, Layfette, J.C., Kenneth, Floyd, Morris, Herschel, William Franklin, and William Hugh Durham; sisters, Rosa Durham, Emmy Harrison, Evie Brown, Elmer Buchanan, Edith Head, Eva Simpson, Elsie Norris, Wilma Stewart, Edna Burns, Evelyn Cheek and Euna Bryant.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, October 3rd, 2022 at Sandifer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fants Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, at Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service of Monday, October 3rd, 2022, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm.
