Lawmakers to trek back to Columbia

State Senator Thomas Alexander says a degree of normalcy will return in South Carolina in May when lawmakers are called back to session. The Oconee-Pickens Republican announced on the Oconee Chamber of Commerce news program that he received a letter this morning from Senate President Harvey Peeler calling for the Senate to gather in their chambers the week May 12. And, to Alexander, it’s a sign of a degree of a return to normalcy—although he said the lawmakers will follow the necessary health protocols that remain in place. The senator also ventured the opinion that he thinks Governor McMaster is close to allowing restaurants to serve meals for outdoor dining, perhaps by Monday of next week, and he thinks inside dining may be allowed by the second or third weeks in May.
