Larry O’Kelly

Larry O’Kelly, age 78, passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2022. After many months of battling health issues and hospital stays, he passed away at home, with his wife and daughter at his side.

Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years: Mammie (Bobbie) Lucille O’Kelly; daughter: Donna O’Kelly Pitman; grandchildren: Shana Marie Pitman and Jonathan Drew Pitman; honorary sister: Mary Lou Rogers, along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Larry was born in Westminster on August 15, 1943, to the late Willie Apel O’Kelly and Jack Floyd O’Kelly. He retired from Duke Energy. He then became an entrepreneur, working hard to operate several small businesses including Main Street’s Westminster 66 Station and Lucky’s Poker located in Townville, SC.

Larry was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his love of antique cars, his passion for old country music, considered a pillar in the community and known for bringing life to the party. Larry believed in always living within one’s means. His frugal business mindset was often relayed via his quoting of phrases such as: “It’s not what you make, it’s what you save” and “if you’re not going to do it right then don’t do it at all.” Larry will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Sandifer Funeral Home with burial to follow at First Baptist Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, March 4, 2022. at Sandifer Funeral Home.
