Larry Burton

Seneca – Larry Joe Burton, 79, husband of Margaret Virginia Gillespie Burton, passed away Tuesday, October 20^th, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

 

Born and raised in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Major and Martha Haynes Burton.  Mr. Burton spent many years as a member of The Good News Singers. He retired from the City of Seneca Light and Water Department. He enjoyed directing music at local churches where his smile could be seen from the back pew. Mr. Burton never met a stranger and loved sharing his testimony to any available ears.

 

Survivors in addition to his wife, Margaret Virginia Gillespie Burton, include sons, William “Paul” Burton (Peggy), Andy Burton; daughters, Sherri Bird (Robert), Angie Miller (Brandon); sister, Dorothy Jones; Twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, which were the light of his life.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David Burton, and a brother, Bill Burton.

 

There will be no formal services at this time.
