L-C Wood Sr.

L.C. “Log Chain” Wood, 88, of Westminster, passed away at the residence early Saturday morning, surrounded by his beloved family.

LC was born on October 29, 1933, in Hart County, Georgia to the late Lester Clark Wood, Sr., and Mamie Fuller Wood. LC was a retired truck driver, but continued to love traveling long after his days of work. LC was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Fair Play, South Carolina. LC was a man who loved all aspects of life intensely—whether it be the trips he took, the work he did, fishing with his buddies, watching a NASCAR race, or the meals he ate. He was always seen with a smile on his face, boots on his feet, and a trucker cap on his head. He was a man of many stories about any and everything. He could sit and talk for hours about the experiences he went through in life. LC was well known throughout his community and seen often at the local Bountyland drinking a coffee and talking to friends. One thing about LC that everyone knew was that he loved his family fully, fearlessly, and fiercely. He was a humble man who would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need.

LC is survived by his wife, Dovie Moore Wood, son, Kevin Wood and daughters Dianne (Ronnie) Harbin, Sandy (Allen) Barnes, Kathy (Don) Crooks, Kim (Scott) Moore, Stefanie “Prissy” (Leslie) Jones, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, his sisters, Liz (late Bill) Coker,  Ann (Rufus) Thrift, brother, Jesse (late Flois) Wood, honorary daughters and family-friends, Kay Jones, Sonya Hopkins, Edna and late Tillman Eller.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Clark Wood Sr. and Mamie Fuller Wood, his sister Marie (James) McWhorter, and his daughter, Pat Towe.

The family would like to send their appreciation to Hospice of the Foothills, Jackie James, Karen Dickson, and Pam Padgett.

A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 pm, Monday, May 2nd, 2022, at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
