Kay Wilson

Seneca- Kay Evans Wilson, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, at the Cottingham Hospice House. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemson Free Clinic, PO Box 941, Clemson, SC 29633.
Born in Pine Bluff Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances Evans. After high school, she joined the Navy and started a family. She graduated from nursing school in 1977 where she found her passion. Her career included working at Hampton General Hospital, Oconee Memorial Hospital, Blue Ridge Orthopedics, and Clemson Free Clinic. She was chosen as nurse of the year in 1991 while working at Oconee Memorial. Kay’s gift was caring for patients and teaching new nurses. She was still sharing her passion at Clemson Free Clinic to students interested in health care.
Kay’s other passion was quilting. Many wounded service members, family, friends, and strangers have received the blessing of a quilt made by Kay. Her talent also conveyed her caring nature. She found pleasure in knowing the quilt would warm the recipient’s body and soul.
Kay was also a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her husband of 29 years, Bill Wilson, Kay is survived by daughter, Terri (Keith) Smith of Seneca, SC; Tami Johnson of Powdersville, SC; and a son, Dennis Thompson of Albuquerque, NM; stepsons, Heath Wilson, Columbia, SC; Brian Wilson, Spring, Texas; Blake Wilson, Simpsonville, SC, seven grandchildren, Jason(Andrea) Smith, Austin Self, Kyle (Michelle) Smith, Kalyn Johnson, Allen Smith, Drew Wilson, and Brett Wilson; great grandchildren Blakely and Blaire Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Evans. Kay and her husband Bill are members of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Easley, SC.
