Katherine Mathis

 

Seneca – Katherine Renay Cherry Mathis, 72, wife of the late Lloyd Gary Mathis, passed away on Tuesday, February 20^th, 2024 at Atrium Health Lincoln.

 

Born July 8^th, 1951, in Lincolnton, North Carolina, Katherine was the daughter of the late Harvey Edward and Hazel Jones Cherry.  Katherine retired from the Oconee County School District, where she worked as a cafeteria worker 25 years at Ravenel Elementary School. Katherine enjoyed traveling, crafting, loved her animals, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

 

Katherine is survived by her daughters, Michelle M. Jordan, Stephanie M. Smith, Crystal M. Horton (Jeffrey); grandsons, Coleman Jordan, Ethan Smith, Evan Jordan, Gavin Smith, Mason Horton; two great-granddaughters, Jakalynn Jordan and Payton Smith; and a special niece, Tabitha Fowler Curtis.

 

In addition to her parents, and husband, Katherine is preceded in death by her sisters, Jacqueline Cherry Rhyne, Betty Sue Fowler; and a brother, Harvey Edward Cherry.

 

Per Katherine’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
