Jury verdict for the plaintiff

The jury in the Oconee Common Pleas Court required four hours before ruling in favor of plaintiff Mahlon Meredith in his damage suit against Pickens County. An Oconee resident, Meredith yesterday afternoon was awarded $75 thousand actual damages to compensate him as the result of a 2016 accident at a Walhalla intersection. That accident involved cars driven by Meredith and a Pickens sheriff’s deputy, Charlotte Suddeth. Much of the testimony involved the extent to which the accident added to Meredith’s pre-existing back condition. The jurors viewed sketches and photographs of the accident scene, including photos of the damage to both cars.
