JULIE KAY BUTLER CORBETT

Julie Butler Corbett, 79, wife of William Richard Corbett, 179 Whitewater Point Road, Tamassee, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s.

 

She was born in Wilmington, NC, and moved to Albemarle, NC when she was 12 years of age. She married Bill Corbett in 1964.  They were avid travelers having visited all 50 states and 43 countries. They have two sons: Kyle Corbett, his wife Holly, and their three sons Cameron, Nolan, and Andrew of Central SC, and Taft Corbett and his wife Danielle of Duncan, SC: grandchildren, Audrey, Will, and Grant of Greenville SC and great-granddaughters Chloe and Claire.

She is survived by her sisters Nancy O’Neal and her husband Don of Rock Hill, SC, and Linda Clayton and her husband Horace of Mint Hill, NC. 

Mrs. Corbett was preceded in death by her son William Adrian Corbett (2017), parents Mae Morgan (1984), and Taft Butler (1950).

A resident of Oconee County, Mrs. Corbett was an honor graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She received multiple years of additional training at the CDC and at Harvard Medical School specializing in epidemiology and infectious diseases. She also worked for several years at the Medical College of GA.  She and her family lived in Spartanburg, Greenwood, and Aiken, SC prior to their retirement to Tamassee, SC in 2001.

She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Walhalla, SC.  A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 16, 2024, in the church sanctuary of St. John’s Lutheran Church.   The receiving of friends will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the Memorial Service.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Sandifer Funeral Home of Westminster, SC.
