Julian Douglas Hightower

Seneca – Julian Douglas Hightower, 87, husband of the late Lois Nelms Hightower, passed away on Friday, February 25th, 2022 at Cottingham Hospice House.

Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, Douglas was the son of the late James Duckworth Hightower and Evie Savannah Payne Hightower. Douglas was formerly a Loom Technician with West Point Stevens and was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Douglas enjoyed farming, gardening, and flower gardening.

Douglas is survived by his daughters, Sandra McDonald (John) of Whitsett, NC and Shirley Mason (Lloyd) of Westminster; sister, Frances Tate; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his son, Douglas W. Hightower, Sr.; brothers, Lee Hightower, Hoyt Hightower, Grady Hightower, Richard Hightower, James Hightower, and Ben Hightower; sisters, Kathleen Hightower, Jennie Holbrooks, Lillie Mae Martin, Becky Tate, Eunice Cobb, Ruth Hester, Florence Miller; and grandson, Christopher Patterson.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 28th, 2022 at Reedy Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Douglas will lie in state, Sunday, February 27th, 2022 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at Sandifer Funeral Home.
