Judgeship seat opens for applications

Tenth Circuit Judge Maddox retires December 31; already, however, the process to pick his successor is underway.  Sen. Thomas Alexander has learned that hopefuls for the job may apply beginning as early as Monday (July 29).  The deadline to submit an application will be Thursday, August 29.  Maddox, based in Anderson, is considered an at-large judge.  Which means his successor, provided he or she is qualified and wins a vote of the Joint General Assembly, may come from anywhere within the state.  Alexander’s comments on the process to select anew can be heard on 101.7/WGOG NEWS
