Judge sets bond for sex offense defendant

A judge has set bond for a Fair Play man accused of sexual conduct with a minor. The defendant, Donnie Lane King, appeared in the Oconee General Sessions Court today and heard Judge Alex Macaulay set the terms of his potential release from jail while awaiting trial on multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Macaulay set King’s bond at $150 thousand dollars with surety and stipulated that one condition of release before trial will be GPS monitoring. This afternoon the 65-year old King remains incarcerated in the Oconee Detention Center. Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says late last month his investigators, working with the Lavonia, Georgia police, arrested King at a Lavonia motel.
