JUANITA BURRELL JOHNS

Walhalla, SC – Rosa Juanita Burrell Johns, 75, wife of the late Kenneth Earl Johns, Sr., passed on from this earthly life on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Prisma Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Born in Tamassee, SC, Mrs. Johns was the daughter of the late Homer Beaty Burrell and Emily Ruth Owens Burrell. During her formative years, Mrs. Johns was raised in the home of her beloved uncle and aunt, the late Verner and Jeanette Nichols Burrell. She retired as a Registered Pharmacy Technician and Business Manager of Ken’s Pharmacy. Prior to joining her husband in the family pharmacy business, Mrs. Johns was the Loan Department Manager at Southern Bank & Trust of Walhalla. She was a 1964 graduate of Walhalla High School where she was selected as Homecoming Queen her senior year. Mrs. Johns was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a former member of Walhalla City Council, past President of Walhalla Chamber of Commerce, a former member of Walhalla Auditorium Restoration Committee, Walhalla Pilot Club, and was involved in many other community and civic endeavors as a Walhalla merchant. Mrs. Johns was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Green Bay Packers.

 

Mrs. Johns is survived by sons, Kenny (Katie) Johns and Mark Johns; brothers, Jim (Eunice), Donnie (Ruth), and Joe (Mae Dale) Burrell; sisters, Lois (Herschel) Lyda, Carolyn (Bud) Duvall, Sharyn (David) Phillips, Martha (Julies) Grant, and Peggy (Paul) Burton; cousins raised as brothers, Robert (Becky) and Richard (Lani) Burrell; grandchildren, Taylor (Alexandra) Johns, Andrew (Madison McNeely) Johns, Lindsay (Payden) Johns Price and Alexander Johns; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Nathan Johns, and Samuel Price; former daughter in law, Lynn (Jack) Ballenger Turpin; bonus grandchildren, Hastings Crumpton, James Leslie, Sarah Voss and Kathleen Adams; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

 

Mrs. Johns was also predeceased by brothers, Eddie and Curt Burrell and sister, Sandra Marcengill.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Davenport Funeral Home.
