Joyce Craig Roach

Walhalla, SC — Joyce Craig Roach, 72, of Walhalla, SC left her earthly body on July 27, 2022, to return to the arms of her parents, and her loved ones that left before her & Jesus.

Leaving, in her absence, a hole that can never be filled for her son: Joe Roach (Jane) of Mountain Rest, SC; and daughter: Kay Williams (Rick) of Discovery Bay, CA.

Occupying such a special place in her heart were her six grandchildren: Jenea Roach (Aaron), Amber Williams (Andrew), Justin Williams, Ashli Williams, Donna Jo Roach (Douglas), and Jonathan Roach (Hannah) & one great-grandson, Landon Martin.

Until they meet again are two sisters: Shirley Marcengill and Sandra Craig, and a brother: Joe Craig.

Waiting to greet Joyce was her father, Thomas Franklin Craig, her mother, Lillie Louise Underwood Craig, two brothers: Ray Underwood & Thomas Elijah “Billy” Craig; and one sister: Marie.

Also there waiting, her significant other of 30 plus years Billy Ray Stewart.

Joyce had many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces that she loved dearly.

Joyce loved nothing more than any occasion for a family dinner with as many of her family as she could have there. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.  Absolutely nothing lit up her face more than any one of them walking through her door or calling just to chat.

Joe & Kay want to especially thank their Aunt Sandy for taking such loving care of their mama on the days she couldn’t fully care for herself. She remained in her home until the end of her days, just as she wanted, because of you, Sandy. You’re so right; as you often told her when taking her photo, she was so pretty when she smiled. Sisters have such a special bond. Many thanks to Shirley as well. It takes a village, and your help is so appreciated.

Joyce will be missed by her family more than she could have imagined. For those fortunate enough to have been a part of her life, we are who we are because of her unconditional love for us all.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Davenport Funeral Home, with a burial to follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 PM, Saturday at Davenport Funeral Home.
