Joyce Burkett
Westminster – Joyce Annette Black Burkett, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 21st, 2020, after a long illness.
Joyce was born December 26, 1941, in Seneca, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Swain and Lola Sheriff Black. Joyce was married to Byron Verner Burkett Jr. and was an active member of Seneca Baptist Church. Joyce worked in customer service for South Carolina National Bank and its successor banks. Joyce was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. She also had a great passion for Clemson basketball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Anita Burkett Beatty.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Verner Burkett; a son, Alan Burkett and wife Joanne of Greenwood; and a brother, Doyle Black and wife Katherine of Anderson; one grandchild, Hannah Beatty of Fountain, Colorado.
A Celebration of her life will be held graveside at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 at Oconee Memorial Park with Rev. Von Reynolds and Rev. Ryan Perry officiating.
The family is at their respective homes and flowers are accepted or memorials in Joyce’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Attn: Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude
