Jimmy Ray Whitman

Walhalla– Jimmy Ray Whitman, 74, husband of Sandra Lee Towe Whitman, passed away on Saturday, October 30th, 2021 at Prisma Health – Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

Born in Oconee County, Jimmy was the son of the late Gus Nelson Whitman and Norie Burton Whitman.  Jimmy retired from Oconee County after 34 years of service as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of Rocky Knoll Baptist Church.  Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman and a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War.   

 

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; sons, Donald A. Whitman (Maureen), Jimmy Ray Whitman, Jr., Kristopher Lee Whitman (Megan), and Jason John Nelson Whitman (Jessica); sisters, Becky Craft and Marilyn Lusk; grandchildren, Eli Whitman, Taylor Whitman, Kayla Whitman, Hayden Whitman, Kane Whitman, Ethan Rhody, Adrieanna Jenkins, Bailey Whitman, Shelbie Lynn Whitman, Gabriel Jason Whitman, Grayson Scott Whitman, and 6 great-grandchildren

 

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Whitman and Roger Whitman.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
