Jerry Blakely
Seneca – Jerry William Blakely, 73, husband of Maxine Cooper Blakely, passed away on April 14th, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 29th, 1950, in Oconee County, South Carolina, Jerry was the son of William Henry and Sarah Gibson Blakely. Jerry was retired from AT&T as an electronic technician with 37 years of service, and an Army National Guard Veteran. Jerry’s greatest joy was his family and serving the Lord at Reedy Fork Baptist Church where he was a member for 50 years, having served as a deacon, and a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. Jerry was known by having many names, son, brother, husband, proudest name of all Daddy, “Daddy Rabbit”, and a special grandpa and Pa.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years of marriage in July, Maxine Cooper Blakely; son, Barry Blakely (Britney) of Seneca; daughter, Brandy Brown (Kevin) of Seneca; sister, Kathy B. Cater (Fud) of Seneca; six grandchildren, Will Blakely, Carly Blakely, Ben Brown, Erin Brown, Ella Kate Ward, and Sara Beth Ward.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, at Reedy Fork Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, prior to the service at the church.
