Jean Phillips

Madison– Lillie Jean T Phillips, 88, wife of the late John Henry Phillips, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, June 7 at The Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Born in Franklin County, GA, Lillie Jean was the daughter of the late Rev. Virgil Lester and Clara Head Turpin. She was a homemaker and a member of Long Creek Baptist Church.

 

Lillie Jean is survived by her son, John Keith Phillips of Westminster; daughters, Ginger (Tim) Thomas of Seneca, Vicki (Ernie) Strickland of Florence, South Carolina; grandsons, Joshua Owens (Brittany) (reared in the home) and Jonathan Owens (Jessica); granddaughters, Leslie Strickland and Jessie Shelato (David); great-grandsons, Braden and Jonah; great-granddaughters, Skylar, Aunna, Lillie Jean, Jane, Charlotte, Ester and Mylah; brothers, Chaffin Turpin (Mary) and Aaron Turpin (Marilyn); sister, Linda Hornick (Doug); and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, Lillie Jean is preceded in death by her husband; and a sister, Lena Martin.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 12th, 2023 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends and family 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Sunday, June 11th, 2023 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
