James Ronnie Hughes

Westminster – James Ronnie Hughes, 68, husband of Beverly Pressley Hughes, passed away Friday, February 5th, 2021, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

He was a native of Oconee County, and was the son of the late James Edward and Pauline Young Hughes and reared by his parents the late Verlan and Nora Young.  Ronnie retired after 35 plus years as the bread delivery man for Sunbeam bread and Sara Lee, and also worked as a delivery man for Wilson Processing. Ronnie was known as a musician; his greatest passion was playing the steel guitar for the Silver Eagle Band alongside his son and grandson.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Pressley Hughes of 47 years; his children, Tina McAlister and husband Wes of Westminster, Tanya Gooding and husband Chad of Walhalla, James Christopher Paul Hughes of Westminster, and Joseph Austin Hughes and wife Ashley of Westminster; brothers, Clay Young, Harold Young, Horace Young; sister, Barbara O’Kelly; and eight grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Ronnie is preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Bryson, Velma Neal, Betty Finley, Mozelle Alexander, Linda Marcus and Donna Lambert.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 6 pm – 8pm, Monday, February 8th, 2021 at Sandifer Funeral Home.

 

The family is their respective homes and flowers are accepted. A message of
