Is there a “Riley Johnson” in Walhalla’s future?

For several years, Riley Johnson has been talking up the advantages of driving to Seneca for special events. Special events are what Johnson is all about for his city, as he has become Seneca’s first ever events coordinator. At least two Walhalla candidates in next month’s election, Charles Morgan and Tjay Bagwell, want their city to hire someone who can better promote what their city has to offer—such as the attractions downtown, including the future connection between downtown and the Stumphouse biking and hiking trail. Council incumbent David Underwood says the downtown often has lines of passing traffic that doesn’t stop on their way thru the city. And Morgan says Walhalla needs to capitalize on the tourism business. He called attention last night to an Oak Ridge Boys concert at the Center for the Performing Arts that drew 900 fans who visited Walhalla on a Sunday where the restaurant offerings and lodging accommodations were limited.
