Irvin “Smitty” “Spidey” White Smith

 

Seneca, SC – Irvin “Smitty” “Spidey” White Smith, 83, husband of Barbara Watrous Smith, of Seneca, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

A native of Framingham, MA, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Julia Larrabee and Chester Irvin Smith and brother of the late Bernard Smith. He graduated from Framingham High School in 1955, and received his accounting degree from Bentley College. He was a veteran of the United States Naval Reserve. He was the Director of Accounting of Northrop Grummon Corporation until he retired in 1992.

Irv was a long-time member of Grace Family Church, and also was attending Foot Hills Church.

 

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters: Joanne (Russ) Crocker of Vandergrift, PA and Diane (Kevin) Crocker of Apollo, PA; eleven grandchildren: Leslie Walsh, Megan Walsh (Brian) Paull, Casey Walsh, Michael Crocker, Donovan Crocker, Corey (Kelly) Crocker, Eric (Samantha) Crocker, Chelsea Crocker (Justin) Lookhart, Travis (Cameron)Crocker, Tyler Crocker and Traci Crocker; and six great-grandchildren: Mason Paull, Ramsey Nabors, Madelyn Crocker, Abigail Crocker, Carsyn Crocker and Josh Rupinsky.

 

Since his retirement, he continued to be an avid boater; learned to barefoot water ski, and accomplished level 5 whitewater rafting. He was always eager to take visiting northerners for a spin on the lake, along with a stay at “Smith’s B & B”. He enjoyed anything that would put a smile on someone’s face, especially when there was a story involved. Irv cherished every waking moment with his soulmate and love of his life, Barb. “Smitty” loved his family and friends, but most of all, “Spidey” adored his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The service will also be livestreamed on the Davenport Funeral Home Facebook page.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2021, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.
