Investigation finishes into Upstate horse attacks

The state police (SLED) and other law enforcement agencies have closed their investigation into a rash of horse attacks.  In the end, evidence shows the horse attacks were the result of altercations with wild boars in the area.  The investigation involved five incidents within a four-week period across Greenville and Spartanburg counties.  Supporting the conclusion are animal tracks consistent with hogs, video evidence, and the sighting of boars in the two counties.  However, according to the SLED announcement, an investigation into a horse shooting last month in Greenville County remains under investigation, but is considered separate and not connected to the primary investigation.  Law enforcement agencies advise animal owners to be vigilant in protecting their animals and report any suspicious activity they may encounter.
