Increasing appetite to cast a ballot

As it’s likely to be elsewhere, the appetite of Oconee County voters to cast a ballot for November is strong…and getting stronger.  The office of county Registration and Elections remains busy processing applications to vote absentee.  There are many reasons available for voting early, and there’s no shortage of Oconeeans requesting absentee ballots.  Ryan Nowland, assistant elections director, estimates that the number of absentee applications received so far approximate 5,300–about 10 percent of the total number of Oconeeans currently eligible to vote.  The first absentee ballots are to be mailed late this month, with the remainder hitting the mail in October.
