In all, five plant workers present when tornado hit

Borg Warner guard Jack Harvill lost his life in the EF3 tornado, but a company spokeswoman says the death toll could have been worse. Besides the security guard, there were four Borg Warner workers present in the complex when the tornado blew apart the guard shack and caused major damage to the large manufacturing building. But Borg Warner spokeswoman Michelle Collins today said the four other employees turned out OK, although a couple of them went for hospital treatment. Collins spoke to JoAnn Johnson of the Oconee Chamber of Commerce and commented that the Seneca plant, as it is being returned to limited production, remains “an active construction site.” The emphasis, she explained, is that the returning workers are able to do their work in a safe way, which means that they have the proper equipment to protect against the virus.
