Husband and wife were shooting victims

Investigation continues into the shooting last night involving a man and his wife in rural Oconee County, but the sheriff’s office believes what happened was the result of a domestic situation and there appears to be no danger to the general public.  In a statement today, the sheriff’s office said:  “At this time based upon evidence that has been gathered, investigators believe that the husband was shot by his wife and that the gunshot wound to the wife was self-inflicted.”  The male and the female, not identified by name, were taken by medical helicopters for hospital treatment.  Responding to a report of a shooting, deputies went to a home on the Rocking M Lane near Mountain Road and the Westminster Highway.
