Howard Benjamin Luce, Sr.

Salem, SC — Howard Benjamin Luce, Sr., 90, husband of Helen Smith Luce, of 175 Shallow Ford Road, Salem, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at his home.

 

A native of Harrison, New Jersey, Mr. Luce was the son of the late Oliver H. and Maude Woodward Luce. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served for four years during the Korean War. Mr. Luce retired from Duke Energy. He was a member of the Salem American Legion Post #163. Mr. Luce was currently serving as the Pastor of the Davidian Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Salem.

 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Luce is survived by his sons: Howard Benjamin “Benny” Luce, Jr. (Kathy) and Daniel “Danny” Luce both of Salem; grandchildren: Melissa Getsoff (Dave), Chad Luce (Wendy), Gabe Luce (Julie), Sam Luce, Eric Suttles (Heather) and Anna Suttles; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Friday, August 9, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Davidian Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 PM, Friday, August 9, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home.
