How the former Harper’s will change in the future

The thinking with Seneca’s Improvements Corporation is that the property of the former Harper’s 5 & 10 will become a green space with enough room created for some new commercial business purposes downtown.  The name Harper’s Plaza was suggested and the plaza could allow for a fountain and a splash pad.  Scott Moulder, president of the improvements corporation, told this morning’s meeting that if Seneca pays extra, it can get a demolition job for $175 thousand.  Under the plan put forth by Moulder, the contractor would demolish the yellow parts of the former Harper’s building, but leave intact the red brick which is considered either historic or of sentimental value.  The Improvements Corporation board voted to proceed with the partial demolition.
