How many visitors will Clemson see September 19?

Clemson University has announced rules for fans to follow for the football season opener September 19, but what about the city of Clemson which regulates where fans may tailgate in the city limits?  Expectation is that fans will take up the allotted 19,000 seats in the stadium, but an unknown is how many others will simply show to be close to the game action.  That was a point of conjecture during a special city council meeting yesterday to address whether to allow cars to be parked in people’s yards.  No decision was made, but the meeting ended with what appears to be a consensus on the conditions that should be attached to any tailgating that takes place off campus inside the corporate limits.  Mayor J-C Cook wants a list of those proposed conditions drawn up and addressed soon so that the city can get the word out to those Clemson residents who would like yard permits that allow parking.
