How deer mating season affect safe driving

October through December is the worst period of the year for vehicle collisions with animals.  The motor club AAA Carolinas points out that deer-mating season is underway, and drivers should be cautious and extra vigilant on the roads to avoid collisions.  Such collisions are not only dangerous, but expensive.  The average claim for hitting a deer in the Carolinas is $4,300.  The motor club offers plenty of advice.  In the event of a collision with a deer, if possible, immediately move your vehicle to a safe location out of the roadway.  Once you are in a safe location and no longer driving, call the police.  Activate vehicle’s hazard lights.
